The short answer: At Milo & Co, a one hour group walk costs around £16 and a 45 minute solo walk costs roughly £20. Prices differ from walker to walker, so compare what’s included as well as the number.
People often ask what a dog walker costs, and it’s a fair question. I can’t speak for every walker in Buckinghamshire, so I’ll be upfront about mine. Here’s what Milo & Co charge around Hughenden Valley and the villages nearby.
Group walks: £16 for an hour - The Social Pack Walk is for dogs who love company. They get an hour of running about with friends, on or off the lead, which makes it the most affordable way to give a sociable dog a proper outing.
Solo walks: £20 for 45 minutes - The Solo Explorer Walk costs more per minute, because your dog has me entirely to themselves. It suits nervous or older dogs, who often prefer to go at their own pace.
Puppies and quick visits - Puppy Adventures are £12 for 30 minutes, and gives your pup a regular walking buddy until they’re ready to join a group or solo walk. A Home Visit or Check-In is £10 for 20 minutes: a toilet break and a bit of play while you’re out.
Longer days and weekends - Longer Days, Double the Fun covers two to four hours on weekdays and starts at £30. It’s for owners with long days away who want their dog exercised and kept company. Weekend Trails give your dog an hour or two long adventure while you get on with your own plans, from £20.
Extras to know about - Additional dogs from the same household are charged at a discounted rate. Walks on UK bank holidays cost double the usual price. I invoice monthly on the 25th, with payment due on the 1st.
The length of the walk and whether your dog gets one-to-one attention are the biggest factors. So is the cost of running a business: insurance, first aid training, DBS checks and the van.
Look beyond the headline figure. Does the booked time include travel? Is the walker insured? Who will actually turn up? A lower price isn’t always a worry, but it’s worth asking what's behind it. At Milo & Co, a booked hour is a full hour, I don’t charge for travel. I’m pet first aid and CPR trained, DBS checked and insured.
